Highland Film Group ("HFG") is an independent finance and sales company that finances and sells quality filmed entertainment across multiple platforms to worldwide audiences.             

HFG's management team has significant experience in both film production, finance and worldwide sales, and this expertise is available to filmmakers throughout all phases of film financing, production, marketing and sales.  

From preliminary consultations or the negotiation of pre-sale agreements during project development to production supervision and risk mitigation during principle photography, and concluding with the implementation of a global marketing and sales strategy that maximizes revenue generation after a film is complete, HFG collaborates with today's filmmakers and financiers to preserve the creative spirit essential to independent film making, but also to maintain a balanced emphasis on risk-responsibility and value creation every step of the way.

The Team
ARIANNE FRASER / CEO
 
 Ms. Fraser’s first experience in the business was as a producer on the film WASSUP ROCKERS, directed by Larry Clark, where she handled the sale of the film's worldwide rights. This led to a career in film sales. In August, 2005, Ms. Fraser became Director of Foreign Sales and Distribution for First Look International, where she handled sales of the company's library consisting of over 800 titles and the then-current film slate including: SMILEY FACE (with Anna Faris and Adam Brody, directed by Greg Araki); THE BREED (starring Taryn Manning and Oliver Hudson, produced by Wes Craven); and AN AMERICAN CRIME (with Catherine Keener and Ellen Page). In March of 2008, Ms. Fraser became VP of International Sales and Distribution with Arsenal Pictures, focusing on the acquisition of completed content for worldwide sales. Ms. Fraser decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge in early 2010 with the formation of Highland Film Group (HFG), where she partnered with Delphine Perrier.Ms. Perrier previously worked at Paramount Vantage, Odd Lot International, and Mandate Pictures. Highland’s highlights include the sleeper hit INSTRUCTIONS NOT INCLUDED (directed and starring Eugenio Derbez) which grossed over $44 million in the U.S. box office; THE BAYTOWN OUTLAWS (with Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria); REVENGE FOR JOLLY (with Kristen Wiig, Elijah Wood, Ryan Phillippe and Adam Brody) and SOMEDAY THIS PAIN WILL BE USEFUL TO YOU (with Ellen Burstyn, Marcia Gay Harden, and Lucy Liu).  

Ms. Fraser has also successfully financed multiple films using a combination of pre-sales to cover senior and subordinated debt, gap, tax credit, and facilitated capital for mezz and equity. Ms. Fraser and Ms. Perrier have most recently financed the films BARELY LETHAL (with Hailee Steinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jessica Alba), JACKIE & RYAN (starring Katherine Heigl and Ben Barnes), EXTRACTION starring Bruce Willis, with Kellan Lutz and Gina Carano) FEBRUARY (starring Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka, with James Remar, Lucy Boynton and Lauren Holly), THE TRUST (starring Nicholas Cage and Jerry Lewis, with Elijah Wood and Sky Ferreira), and WILD FOR THE NIGHT (with James Maslow, Tommy Flanagan, Lane Garrison, Bianca A. Santos and Casper Smart).

Ms. Fraser continues to use her unique and integral approach for film sales and her passion for commercial and quality packages to assist in financing films and bringing them to audiences worldwide.

  Mrs. Perrier brings with her a significant amount of legal expertise and international sales experience within the entertainment industry. Mrs. Perrier has a law degree from the Sorbonne University Law School in Paris. She started her career in the entertainment industry as a contract administrator at Kushner & Locke where she managed an extensive library of over 200 films. She was one of the key players in the debut of Mandate Pictures where she lead the International Legal Affairs department and was responsible for collecting outstanding receivables for box office hits including The Grudge 1& 2, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, Juno, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Stranger Than Fiction, The Messengers, Boogeyman 1 & 2, and 30 Days of Night. Ambitious to complement her legal expertise in the industry, she joined Odd Lot International as the Vice President of International Sales where she developed her relationships with Hollywood producers and promoted Odd Lot International Sales Agent Service. She was then offered the challenging opportunity to be part of one of Hollywood's major studios, Paramount where she became the second in command of International Sales of the Studio’s specialty branch, Paramount Vantage. Her slate include films such as The Crazies, Shutter Island, Capitalism: A Love Story, Traitor, Last Chance Harvey, and Ondine.

RUZANNA KEGEYAN / EXECUTIVE OF
SALES & ACQUISITIONS

Ruzanna Kegeyan has been in the independent international sales for 17 years and has been involved in some of the most notable films coming from the independent marketplace.  She comes with an extensive knowledge and experience of independent film in the international marketplace; including worldwide sales, bank financing, distribution/acquisition and marketing.  

Ruzanna served as President of Synchronicity Entertainment, the vanguard division of The Solution Entertainment Group.  In addition to overseeing the worldwide sales and acquisitions for Synchronicity, she handled sales for key territories for Solution.  

Prior to joining Synchronicity and Solution, Ruzanna was EVP of Sales and Acquisitions at IM GLOBAL for six years, where she handled worldwide sales and acquisitions for all theatrical product.  She was instrumental in acquiring and selling the horror phenomenon PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Other titles she sold were SAFE starring Jason Statham, A SINGLE MAN starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, INSIDIOUS starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, BULLET TO THE HEAD starring Sylvester Stallone.
 
Ruzanna had a five year tenure as Senior Vice President of International Distribution at Syndicate Films International/Yari Film Group where she handled worldwide sales, facilitated bank closings with various financing institutions, and oversaw a staff of ten that encompassed contract negotiations, to collections and servicing. Ruzanna handled worldwide sales for films including Oscar Award winning film CRASH, directed by Paul Haggis; HOSTAGE starring Bruce Willis; THE MATADOR starring Pierce Brosnan; THUMBSUCKER starring Keanu Reeves and upcoming films such as THE ACCIDENTAL HUSBAND starring Uma Thurman.
 
Before the Yari Film Group, Ruzanna was VP of International Distribution at Splendid Pictures, overseeing day-to-day operations of the department and was involved in films the highly regarded sophomore feature, NARC, directed by Joe Carnahan, starring Ray Liotta and Jason Patric and the AGENT CODY BANKS franchise. 
 
Ruzanna graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and minor in Economics from the University of Southern California.  Prior to completing her BA Ruzanna served in the Armenian Embassy in Washington D.C.

 Laura has extensive distribution expertise and significant international sales and market experience. She has started her career as a correspondent report at CNN and after graduating with a Master’s degree in film and television producing from Chapman University, she continued her entertainment industry career at American Cinema International where she was responsible for licensing 65 current and 500+ library feature ?lms, negotiated and closed contracts for foreign sales territories worldwide, and attended and managed publicity and marketing campaigns at all major industry trade shows including MIPCOM, LA Screenings, NAPTE, AFM, MIPTV, HONG KONG FILMART, DISCOP and Cannes. More recently Laura has used her experience as an Entertainment Trade Commissioner for the Consulate General of Canada as well as working in Domestic and International Sales for Highland Film Group developing high profile connections with distributors all over the world.

ALANA CROW / HEAD OF COUNSEL
 Alana is a seasoned business affairs executive and entertainment lawyer with over 17 years of experience in structuring, negotiating and drafting complex and sophisticated transactions.
After working in-house for a variety of leading motion picture and television companies, Alana launched her entertainment law practice in January 2011 which organically developed into a successful and reliable outside business and legal resource for some of the industry's most well-respected, veteran film financiers, producers, distributors, sales agents, key talent, in-house executives and prominent entertainment law firms.

She prides herself on providing quality and practical business and legal affairs services to all sectors of the entertainment community. Her scope and breadth of legal skills are varied as she can easily maneuver between transactional work to the litigious side of the business. She has had tremendous success obtaining IFTA Arbitration Awards on behalf her clients and collecting money in full vís a vís collaboration with foreign local counsel.  She is also an active, integral member and draftswoman of the IFTA Legal Committee.

Prior to starting her own firm, Alana managed the Business & Legal Affairs Department of IM Global during its initial 3 successful years and helped catapult the company into one of the most prolific and celebrated film financiers, producers and distributors in the independent film world. During her tenure at IM Global, she oversaw all aspects of the company's business and legal activity including, handling all film finance, production, sales and distribution matters, managing a team of professionals, counseling all in-house departments such as sales, marketing, publicity and physical delivery, and strategizing with outside counsel on all corporate, litigation and trademark/copyright matters.

In September 2005, Alana joined First Look Studios and was quickly promoted to Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs. Prior to First Look Studios, she held positions at CBS Broadcast Television as a senior business affairs executive and at Trimark Pictures. Alana began her career as a criminal defense lawyer working for a Los Angeles-based law firm.

Alana was born in Los Angeles, California, and educated at Whittier College of Law where she received a J.D. and the University of California at Los Angeles where she received a B.A. in English Literature. She currently resides in Beverly Hills with her husband and daughter, and she continues to pursue her nearly 30 year commitment to training in and teaching Tae Kwon Do to martial artists of all ages.

Anita Levian joined Highland Film Group as an attorney in August 2014.  Anita oversees all day-to-day business and legal affairs and draft and negotiations license agreements, notice of assignments and sales agency agreements. Prior to joining Highland Film Group, she worked in the Business and Legal Affairs department at IM Global and Aldamisa International where she worked on titles such as “Sin City 2” and “Machete Kills”. 

Anita is a member of the State Bar of California.  She obtained her B.A. degree with high honors from University of California, Los Angeles where she majored in Communication Studies.  She obtained her J.D. from Southwestern Law School where her studies emphasized in Entertainment Law.  She is a current member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association (Entertainment Section) and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
